Nestled away in a quaint basement location at 3 Chome-4-26 Sakae, Naka Ward, this charming café embodies the spirit of traditional Japanese kissa while providing a meticulous coffee experience that will satiate even the most discerning coffee aficionados.

As you descend into Biggin, you're greeted by an intoxicating aroma – the result of their in-house roasted beans which promise an enchanting coffee journey. The café is quite cozy, accommodating fewer than ten patrons, which adds to its intimate ambiance. The vintage decor, replete with antique coffee-making equipment, enhances the relaxed atmosphere, allowing you to escape the hustle and bustle of the city above.

What really sets Biggin apart is their dedication to the craft of coffee brewing. Customers rave about the authentic methods employed, from boiling the water to carefully weighing coffee beans on a balance scale for each cup, ensuring precision and flavor integrity. A customer named Say Sripaipan described their experience as a “must-try for all coffee lovers,” highlighting their delicate Guatemala straight coffee that is freshly ground and hand-dripped. Chanced upon Biggin as I was looking for a place to rest my feet. Walked into Biggin after seeing very positive reviews from past customers. Biggin has a very traditional kissa vibe, with everything made and prepared in a traditional method. Boiling of water, heating up the milk etc. And the beans are roasted in-house so you get an aromatic smell when you step into this cafe. There are a variety of drinks to choose from, some in English but mostly in Japanese. But you can always ask for recommendations. Overall it is definitely worth visiting Biggin if you are a coffee lover.

Hidden in a basement, first surprise was small (<10 seats) and impressive vintage atmosphere. 2nd surprise was all the vintage equipment, they used balance scale to weigh coffee beans for each cup. 3rd surprise was the delicate flavor and aroma of the coffee. I had Guatemala straight coffee, freshly ground and hand-dripped. Must-try for all coffee lovers!

A fantastic little coffee shop. It is cash only but don't let that keep you from going. It has a lovely atmosphere and they know coffee.

Old school coffee shop vibes. The old speakers amplifies the vibe since it’s pretty old. Ordered the affogato and it was done quite well. Very satisfied with the favour of the coffee along with the ice cream pairing. Note that this place only does drip and filter so for those espresso/lovers, this may not be the place for you. Also they’re only CASH only.
